"Souls Broken"

CHORUS:
How do we live when souls are broken?
The smile was real; now it's just a token.
Unhappiness is most contagious.
A way out would be advantageous.

He spoke to her in tones of sorrow; she'd just told him she could see no tomorrow.
Yesterday had left her broken, a nightmare from which she'd not awoken.
Once they'd been happy together, but she just could not escape the bad weather
In her heart and in her soul; the tempest has taken its toll...

CHORUS

All of his most wonderful days had involved getting lost in her gaze.
She took away his angst and pain, though it seems that her own remained.
He wanted badly a future together, but they were caught exposed in bad weather.
The past is often shaped like a noose; should one just hang there or try to get loose?

CHORUS

And so the joy that they once shared is all gone, because she's scared
To face and deal with the past that scarred her; now their lives are both harder.
Living alone, not happy together, shivering under bad weather,
Their souls broken now, will they mend? Or are they each down a dead end?

CHORUS
